Jaintia Hills District is a place that remains one of Meghalaya’s untapped tourist destinations. It is rich in history and has a vibrant culture with dances and festivals happening at different times of the year. Jaintia hills also have some of the most beautiful waterfalls in Meghalaya. The Turchi falls is one such waterfall. It is located about 4 km from the Shillong- Jowai Road near Khloe Tyrshi village. It was not until recently that a motorable road was constructed to make it easier for visitors to reach the waterfall.
An arch bridge connects a vast expanse of paddy fields which leads directly to the fall, down a flight of steps that requires a bit of trekking. The Tyrshi fall is at its majestic best during the monsoon season where the falling waters fizzle and spread all around. A gorgeous view of the upper part of the paddy fields or Pynthor Nein can be seen from the waterfall lying down in the valley below.
The Tyrshi falls is an emerging tourist attraction in Jaintia Hills. It is an ideal place for picnic and family outing.
